How to Stay in Shape During Quarantine
I’ll be the first one to admit that this quarantine threw me out of my sweet little routine. After testing positive for COVID-19, I was basically out of commission for two weeks while my body regained it’s energy and strength. Thankfully I am okay and it was a mild flu-like sickness for me and my siblings. Anyway, back to the topic!
We are in complete control of how we choose to spend these days in quarantine
When you look back on this time, are you going to be disappointed or content with how you used your time? I know many of us no longer have access to a gym or classes but there are SO many alternatives for us to take advantage of. But first, I think the majority of us may need a little motivation…
Change the way you are talking to yourself
Personally, I don’t enjoy at-home work outs and for once, when this quarantine is over I’ll be able to say “I get to go to the gym.” But for now, let us be thankful for the time we have been given to dedicate to nourishing our mind and body. Maybe we just need a little dialogue and perspective shift… “We get to workout in the comfort of our home.”
Take advantage of FREE online workout classes
I recently purchased a Peloton Bike. I’m not the biggest fan of stationary bikes, but I found this to be necessary to combat all the snacking I’ve been doing recently. Plus, the instructors are really attractive and you sorta get competitive with other users.
Though the Peloton products are not free, they are offering THOUSANDS of their live and on-demand workout classes FOR FREE for the next 90 days via their app! I love that they are doing this. Now we can all stare and drool over extremely attractive instructors in the comfort of our own home. Hallelujah. #NoShame
Here is the link to download their FREE app with thousands of workout classes. You will need to enter in your credit card information. After 90 days you will be charged $12.99 per month. So set a calendar reminder for 89 days from now to cancel the membership. You’re welcome.
For anyone who is interested in getting a Peloton bike or treadmill, use this referral code: (A5Z8CT). You will get $100 off your order and I will get a credit to use in their online store. :)
If you don’t want to deal with getting swindled into a membership if you forget to cancel, Youtube and Pinterest are GREAT resources for FREE workout classes/ideas.
Routine Routine Routine
I still stand by routines being vital to my own success in all areas of life, even during this pandemic. Once you get a dialed-in routine, you think less and do more. I suggest cranking out your workouts in the morning but if that doesn’t work for you, try to take a good look at your day and commit to working out at a certain time and make it a non negotiable event in your day.
Invest in equipment
Can we all agree that sometimes a new purchase motivates us to do or use something a bit more?
BOOTY BANDS and RESISTANT BANDS.
At the very least, I recommend investing in some booty bands. These are great if you’ve never used them before:
These are better if you’re looking for more resistance:
If you don’t know how to use them, YouTube is your new instructor until you download Peloton’s app ^. Type in “how to use booty bands” or “booty bands work outs” in your YouTube or Pinterest search.
Remember, we are in complete control of how we choose to spend these days in quarantine. Let us be thankful for the time we have been given to dedicate to nourishing our mind and body.
